Store displays are the basic tools of retail commerce. Store displays provide the necessary structural framework to organize and present stock logically whilst protecting and storing valuable merchandise.
Various standard forms of display have evolved over time for specific product niches. Designs differ according to the requirements of the type apparel displayed; i.e. whether it is for tops, skirts or full length dresses etc. In addition to this, choices exist according to whether the displays are to be free-standing or fixed, to the perimeter (wall mounted).
Free-standing store displays allow flexibility with regard to repositioning, whilst fixed perimeter displays make good use of space that is difficult to incorporate in any other way.
Usually a combination of the two forms of display will be required to provide the best display solution and use of space. Good store displays should always remain subordinate to the products they present and conform to balanced, ordered design principles. Though it may be necessary in certain circumstances to install expressive, custom-made display forms in unique original designs to differentiate your store, it is advisable to prioritize ease-of-use to both retailer and customer.
